Rental Support Services

CAPSH provides Rental Support Services to help low-income residents of suburban Hennepin County obtain and maintain housing. CAPSH has three services to assist and support those in need: Rapid Exit Services, Supportive Housing Services and Renters Education programs. CAPSH counselors provide flexible assistance to every client’s needs by answering questions and connecting the client to financial and educational resources. Please note: CAPSH does not have funding to provide rental financial assistance.

Renter Rights & Responsibilities Workshops

Tenant training classes teach people what they need to know to be a successful renter. Classes are open to the public. In addition, all Transitional Housing Program and Rapid Exit Program clients must attend them. The classes are held every other month.

The classes cover a variety of topics, including:

  • Types of rental housing and leases
  • Determining what you can afford
  • Leasing with a poor credit or rental history
  • Landlord responsibilities
  • Tenant responsibilities
  • Conflicts between landlords and tenants
CAPSH's Renter Rights & Responsibilities Workshops are free. Free child care and lunch are provided. Participants receive a $25 Visa Gift Card upon completion.
