Today, your right to vote is protected by the 1965 Voting Rights
Act & 5 U.S. Constitutional Amendments
- 14th Amendment - prohibits states from enacting or enforcing laws which deny or reduce its citizen's rights afforded by the federal government; including the right to vote
- 15th Amendment - prohibits denying or reducing a citizen's right to vote on account of race, color, or previous conditions of servitude
- 19th Amendment - prohibits denying or reducing a citizen's right to vote on account of sex
- 24th Amendment - prohibits denying or reducing a citizen's right to vote by reason of a poll tax, other tax, or test
- 26th Amendment - modifies section one of the 14th Amendment and affords citizens of at least 18 years of age the right to vote
